In a strategic alliance for marine conservation, Sun&Blue has joined as a sponsor of the ambitious ‘Portugal Azul’ project, a three-month expedition led by explorer and environmental communicator Nacho Dean. This voyage aims to study and document the current state of the marine ecosystems of the Portuguese coastline and the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores.
The expedition, which set sail on March 30 from Oporto, is being carried out aboard the sailing vessel ‘Melodía’, a 15-meter Bavaria 50 Cruiser, adapted for the collection of scientific samples. The route includes stops at strategic points such as Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, the Natural Park of the Berlengas Islands, the mouth of the Tagus, the Southeast Alentejo Natural Park, Ria Formosa, Madeira and the Azores, with an arrival date in Lisbon on June 30.
Portugal Azul' combines sailing with citizen science activities, involving local communities in tasks of dissemination and awareness of the urgency of protecting our oceans. With this participation, Sun&Blue reinforces its commitment to sustainability and positive impact on an international scale.
The oceanographic campaign not only seeks to generate valuable data for science, but also to encourage greater environmental responsibility in society, at a key moment for the future of the planet.
