Head of Unit - Sustainable Blue Economy at European Commission

Vincent Favrel leads the Sustainable Blue Economy Unit at the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). The Unit supports the Common Fisheries Policy, Maritime Policy and the Union’s commitments to international ocean governance by launching, implementing and promoting the results of  projects, studies and other policy support actions under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (2014-2020) and its successor, the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (2021-2027). The Unit provides high quality support to beneficiaries, contractors and stakeholders, and delivers valuable input to DG MARE, as well as to other relevant Commission services, ultimately promoting a sustainable blue economy, marine conservation and management in the EU and beyond. 

Vincent joined the European Commission in 2002. He has an extensive experience in managing EU research and innovation Programmes including for environment, climate action, natural resources and industrial technologies (2002-2018) as well as actions supporting maritime and fisheries policies (since 2019).
