Manuel Arana
Head of Planning and Development at Puertos del Estado
Head of Planning and Development at Puertos del Estado and President of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, a Master’s in Management of Construction and Real Estate Companies, and a Master’s in Infrastructure and Public Services Management. He has also completed the Executive Development Program at eiiESE.
He is a board member of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras representing the General State Administration. Previously, he was a board member of the Port Authorities of Málaga, Santander, Castellón, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Gijón.
He is the President of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts of Spain, having previously served as Secretary and Treasurer from 2007 to 2019.
Internationally, he has been the Spanish National Secretary of the International Association for Canal and Harbour Navigation (PIANC), of which he is a member of the Finance Committee. He was an elected Council Member of the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) (2018-2019), an organization related to global maritime signaling management. He is also a board member of RETE (since 2020), the Association for Collaboration between Ports and Cities.
