Less than twenty-four hours before the opening of the first edition of Sun&Blue Congress, international congress of Tourism and Blue Economy to be held from 15 to 17 November at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos 'Cabo de Gata - Ciudad de Almería', a day of cleaning and preservation of the beach El Toyo (Almería) has been carried out with the participation of about fifty volunteers.
This activity of awareness and action has been organized by Sun&Blue Congress together with the Ecomar Foundation, collaborating entity of the congress and whose founder and president is Theresa Zabell, Sun&Blue ambassador. It has also had the institutional support of the sponsors of the congress itself such as the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport of Andalusia, the City Council of Almeria, the Provincial Council of Almeria and the Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy of Andalusia.

The beach clean-up day took place over three hours with the participation of around fifty volunteers who wanted to do their bit for this good cause. Tim Ott, CEO of beon. Worldwide, promoter of Sun&Blue Congress, confirmed that plastic containers, wipes, cans, glass bottles, cigarette butts, wood and rubber were the most abundant waste and materials. "We wanted to kick off the Sun&Blue Congress with an activity that would promote sustainable tourism, that would mean a first step towards a more prosperous future, that would conserve one of the natural resources that Almeria has and that would leave a positive impact on the city". For Ott it is everyone's responsibility to protect our natural environment for future generations and Almeria has great potential for blue tourism. "El Toyo beach is a real treasure and its cleanliness and preservation are crucial to maintain the beauty of the coast and promote sustainable tourism. When we have clean and beautiful beaches, tourists spend more time in the city, plus Almeria's reputation as an ecological and sustainable destination grows."

The Ecomar Foundation has been thinking blue since 1999, taking care of the sea. Its main objective is to invest in actions and programs to create a positive and relevant social impact on the environment. "We carry out more than 300 beach cleaning days a year in different parts of Spain with more than 30 tons of waste collected," says Theresa Zabell, founder and president of Ecomar Foundation. The ambassador of Sun&Blue Congress has a motto and that is the one that moves her day to day, "take care of the only two places you can never move from: your body and your planet".

In addition to having led this pre-congress activity, Theresa Zabell, will be responsible for opening Sun & Blue Congress with the plenary 'And you, do you look or help?' which will take place tomorrow Wednesday, November 15, from 10:30 to 11:30 am in the Andalusia hall of the Exhibition and Congress Palace 'Cabo de Gata - City of Almeria. After his speech, the institutional inauguration will take place.
