José Guillermo Díaz Montañés
CEO of Artiem Hotels
J. G. Díaz Montañés, born in Madrid in 1962 and residing in Mahón, Menorca, holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, specializing in Electrical Engineering, from ICAI (Comillas Pontifical University), and a Diploma in Business Management. He has complemented his education with various executive development programs at institutions such as IESE, Cornell University, Andersen Consulting, and the Balearic Government.
Since 1993, he has served as Executive President of Artiem Fresh People Hotels, leading an innovative approach within the hospitality sector. His strong commitment to tourism is reflected in his active involvement in multiple associations: he has been President of Fomento del Turismo de Menorca, Advisor to the Balearic Tourism Institute, and Board Member of the Menorca Hotel Association, among other national-level roles such as President of ZONTUR and of the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH).
From 2004 to 2007, he presided over the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Apartments (CEHAT) and led the Innovation Working Group for the Spanish Tourism Plan Horizon 2020. He also ventured into the publishing sector as President of Grupo Editorial Menorca (2008–2013).
Between 2017 and 2022, he served as Vice President of CAEB and of the Balearic Islands Hotel Chains Association, and since 2022, he has been a member of the Spanish Tourism Council (CONESTUR).
A renowned speaker on tourism-related topics, he has received distinctions such as the Gold Shield from the Higher School of Tourism of the Balearic Islands (1999), the Gold Medal for Tourism Merit in Innovation (2013), and was nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award (1998).
