Juan Antonio Amengual
Mayor of Calvià
He holds a degree in Tourism and a Master’s in Business Administration, specializing in Finance, from the University of the Balearic Islands. His professional career began as a hotel director between 1994 and 2009 and continued as a tourism consultant, a role he carried out from 2010 until taking office as mayor in 2023. He is an avid triathlon enthusiast (swimming, cycling, running) as well as hiking.

Digitalization is no longer an option: it is an essential tool for coastal municipalities to advance in sustainability, efficiency, and foresight. This roundtable will bring together leading mayors from the Alliance of Tourist Municipalities (AMT) and representatives from the main smart city networks in Spain and Latin America to analyze how digital transformation, applied at the local level, can address the major challenges facing the coastline.
Real-life success stories will be presented on the use of technology for water, energy, mobility, and tourism management, as well as the importance of interoperability, data analytics, and shared platforms. The goal is to build a common agenda for smart territorial cooperation, anchored in the blue economy and aligned with European funds and international missions.
