Considered the "father" of the Blue Economy, his entrepreneurial activities span business, culture, science, politics, and the environment. Under his leadership, the company Ecover pioneered the creation of an ecological factory in 1992. He founded the organization Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives (ZERI) at the United Nations University in Tokyo and later established the Global ZERI Network as a foundation, redefining production and consumption in industrial groups inspired by natural systems.
His visionary approach, backed by dozens of on-the-ground projects, earned him an invitation to present his cases at the 2000 World Expo in Germany. There, he built the largest bamboo pavilion of modern times, showcasing seven innovative initiatives. Among his latest projects are a solution to the plastic soup floating in the oceans and the creation of a protected area with islands to prevent rising sea levels.
