María José García-Pelayo, politician and lawyer, is Mayoress of Jerez. In the Congress of Deputies she has been Vice-President of the Agriculture Committee and has been a member of the Equality and Defence Committees and spokesperson of the Culture Committee. Councillor of the City Council of Jerez, provincial deputy and spokesperson of the Popular Group in the Provincial Council, vice-president of the Andalusian Parliament and regional deputy.

Since September 2023 she has been President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
