Izidora Markovic

Senior scientific associate at Institute for Tourism in Zagreb

Ph.D. Izidora Marković Vukadin is senior scientific associate at the Institute of Tourism in Zagreb . She is also lecturing at VERN University and University of Zagreb. She obtained the academic status of Doctor of Science in 2015 at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Zagreb.

As an expert in sustainable tourism, she participated in a number of European projects concerning the spatial development of tourism, as well as in a large number of strategic and action plans for the development of tourism at the national, regional and local levels. She has extensive experience in the development of indicators (sustainable tourism - social, spatial, ecological and economic) for the needs of CROSTO (Croatian Observatory of Sustainable Tourism - part of the UNWTO INSTO network). Furthermore, Izidora has rich experience of working and leading international projects (project leader of Interreg Med projects Destimed Plus and NaTour4CChange). She has published fifteen chapters in scientific books, more than 20 papers in scientific magazines and anthologies, and participated in more than thirty international conferences. She participated in the organizational and scientific committee of several conferences, and is the editor of several collections and one scientific book. Furthermore she is. Her research work is focused on the sustainable development and management of tourism, climate change and tourism, the impacts of tourism on protected areas and the monitoring of tourism sustainability indicators.
